Although we had some problems and difficulties at the start
of the project I believe it went well. I was able to complete all of the work
to what I believe is the best I can do. To start with the project was to create
a 5 minute video for NHS Wales, but due to some communication problems with
them the brief had to be changed as we wasn’t receiving enough information
quick enough and we wouldn’t have been able to complete our work by the
deadline they had set. The brief got changed to creating a promotional video
for the college. We had to create a video no longer than 5 minutes promoting
the creative industries within the college. A big advantage of this is that we
already have a lot of footage from different events and we only had to film minimal
things such as someone using a camera, someone editing footage and general
college life and also some of the art work produced by college that is around
the college.
When it came to editing I faced a couple of difficulties.
The main difficulty was that the footage was only on one computer so I had to
take the footage from this computer. Due to the file size being large this was
time consuming and put me behind slightly. Another problem I faced was that I had
missed a few days of college due to being ill so this had brought me behind slightly;
luckily I managed to catch up and complete all of the work on time.
I believe that my edit fits the brief in terms of creating a
video that promotes the college. I created a 1.5 minute video that has footage
from past college events the 2014 Oxfam fashion show which includes footage of
hair and makeup as well as the fashion show itself. I was also able to find
footage of a rehearsal for the drama department for one of their performances. I
think that I have created a strong edit that fits the brief well. It contains
footage from the creative industries deparment within the college. I created a
fast paced edit to be able to hold peoples attention aswell as drawing in
peoples attention.
When I had finished editing the video I exported it as a quick time movie. Once exported I watched it over to make sure there was no junos and that everything was ok without. I figured that I had problems because the exported video was jumpy, pausing and had grey screens come up every couple of seconds. I was really unsure about what was going on so had to ask for help. It took a while to figure out what was going on. It turned out to be the my sequence settings where wrong and that I hadn't changed it to apple pro res 422 HQ. After changing the sequence settings tho this i then exported the video again and found that there was no troubles with the video. From this I have learnt that I should check my sequence settings before exporting any of my videos. This will ensure me of not getting the same problem again.
